Alexander Bublik at the Gonet Geneva Open: A Showman with Big Ambitions

Ranked 11th in the world, Alexander Bublik will compete at the Gonet Geneva Open, taking place from May 16 to 23. The Kazakhstani joins Stan Wawrinka and Casper Ruud as headliners of the only ATP tournament held in French-speaking Switzerland.

Having won four tournaments last year and claimed the title in Hong Kong this year, the Kazakh has reached a major milestone in recent months by breaking into the top ten at the start of the year. Considered since his debut as one of the most spectacular players on the Tour, Alexander Bublik is now emerging as a player capable of setting the highest goals on all surfaces, as demonstrated in 2025 by his quarterfinal appearance on the clay courts of Roland Garros and his title at the ATP 500 in Halle on grass, where he defeated Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, among others.

Having already competed at the Parc des Eaux-Vives in 2022 and 2023, Alexander Bublik will be one of the top contenders to succeed Novak Djokovic as champion of the Gonet Geneva Open.

The Gonet Geneva Open is delighted to confirm the participation of Casper Ruud (ATP 13) for its eleventh edition, which will take place from May 16 to 23 at the Tennis Club de Genève. Stan Wawrinka officially confirmed his participation last week.

Three-time winner of the tournament, in 2021, 2022, and 2024, Casper Ruud has only lost one of the fourteen matches he has played at the Gonet Geneva Open. Absent last year due to knee pain, the Norwegian is keen to regain the upper hand at the Parc des Eaux-Vives.

The 27-year-old player has an impressive track record with 14 ATP titles, including the Madrid Masters 1000 in 2025 and the Barcelona ATP 500 in 2024. He has also played in three Grand Slam finals: at Roland Garros in 2022 against Rafael Nadal and in 2023 against Novak Djokovic, and at the US Open in 2022 against Carlos Alcaraz, with the world No. 1 spot at stake. Finally, he was a finalist at the Masters in Turin in 2022 against Novak Djokovic.

Two-time winner of the tournament in 2016 and 2017, Stan Wawrinka (ATP 92) is the first top player of the eleventh edition of the Gonet Geneva Open, which will take place from May 16 to 23 at the Parc des Eaux-Vives. On the heels of a brilliant start to the year with outstanding performances at the United Cup in Perth and Sydney and at the Australian Open in Melbourne, the player from the canton of Vaud is certainly aiming to make a big splash at the Gonet Geneva Open.

Stan Wawrinka has already achieved one of his goals for his final season: a return in the ATP top 100. The dream of winning a 17th title on the Circuit also seems within reach for a player who continues to defy time. Doing so here in Geneva, where he lifted his last trophy, would bring him full circle.

With Stan Wawrinka, whose record includes three Grand Slam titles – Melbourne 2014, Paris 2015, and New York 2016—a victory at the 2014 Monte Carlo Masters 1000, a Davis Cup victory in 2014, and a gold medal in doubles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics— the Gonet Geneva Open is delighted to welcome back one of the greatest champions in history. There is no doubt that his final appearance in front of the French-speaking Swiss public will be an emotional and memorable moment.

An unforgettable final

An unforgettable final

The longest final in the history of the tournament for Novak Djokovic’s 100th title on the ATP Tour: this sunny Saturday, May 24th, at the enchanting site of Parc des Eaux-Vives will forever remain engraved in the memory of the fortunate ticket holders for the Central Court.
Novak Djokovic had to dig deep into his ultimate resources to win 5-7 7-6 (7/2) 7-6 (7/2) after 3 hours and 6 minutes against Hubert Hurkacz. He indeed faced near-defeat against the Pole, who led 4-2 in the third set. The pivotal moment in this final came with two fatal errors by Hubert Hurkacz in the eighth game of the last set: an unforced error on the first point and a double fault on the second. This opened the door for Novak Djokovic, who did not miss his chance to come back in this final.
Master of his domain in the decisive sets, Novak Djokovic concluded with his sixth ace to clinch this historic 100th title, his first in the year 2025. On the eve of Roland-Garros, he sent a strong message to his rivals. Even at 38 years old, he remains a contender for a Grand Slam victory

The men’s doubles final went to the French duo Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul, who defeated the pair formed by Uruguayan Ariel Behar and Belgian Joran Vliegen 6-7 (4/7) 6-4 11/9. This fifth title on the Tour for the two Toulousains is nothing short of a miracle, as they saved three consecutive match points in the Super tie-break. They had also saved a match point in their first-round match against Mexican Santiago Gonzalez and American Austin Krajicek. They are the first French players to have their names engraved on the doubles winners’ list of the Gonet Geneva Open.
