Taylor Fritz returns to the Gonet Geneva Open
After the annoucement of Casper Ruud and Ben Shelton, the Gonet Geneva Open will be able to count on a third player ranked in the world’s top 15 next month. Last year’s semi-finalist, Taylor Fritz (ATP 13), returns to Geneva for the ninth edition of the tournament, which runs from May 18 to 25 at the Parc des Eaux-Vives.
Beaten in the tie-break of the third set by Grigor Dimitrov in a semi-final that provided a great spectacle, the American will of course be aiming to go one step further this year. At the age of 26, Taylor Fritz, who was world no.5 in February 2023, reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in 2024 before claiming the seventh title of his career in Delray Beach. He celebrated his greatest victory in 2022 at Indian Wells, where he became the first American to win the year’s first Masters 1000 since Andre Agassi in 2001.
A formidable forehand player, Taylor Fritz is one of the most spectacular players on Tour, with an attacking style that’s bound to charm audiences. He has shown in the past that he can really shine on clay. Semi-finalist at last year’s Monte Carlo Masters 1000, finalist in Munich this year, the Californian won’t forget how close he came to the title at last year’s Gonet Geneva Open.
Casper Ruud, Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz all feature on the Gonet Geneva Open entry list, which will be announced today. The organizers are confident that other top players will be present in Geneva. They have been awarded three wild cards to further enhance the tournament, which is set to be a huge popular success once again.
