Eight of the world’s top twenty-five players at the Gonet Geneva Open

The ninth edition of the Gonet Geneva Open, to be held from May 18 to 25 at the Parc des Eaux-Vives, is set to put on a magnificent show. Eight of the world’s top twenty-five players feature on the entry list unveiled by the ATP.

Barcelona winner Casper Ruud (ATP 6) leads the list, which also includes Taylor Fritz (ATP 13) and Ben Shelton (ATP 15). While the Norwegian and the two Americans had already been announced, the presence of Tommy Paul (ATP 16), Sebastian Baez (ATP 19), defending champion Nicolas Jarry (ATP 23), Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 24) and Tallon Griekspoor (ATP 25) enriches the field of this ATP 250 tournament, which has truly earned its place on the Tour.

Kei Nishikori, who made it all the way to the semi-finals in 2017, will also be taking part. The Japanese player has benefited from a protected ranking to enter the draw, where the cut is set at the 51st place. Eighteen players have been directly entered into the draw, which also features four qualifiers, three special exemptions and three wild cards.

Last but not least, the waiting list includes two big names: Dominic Thiem, winner of the 2020 US Open, and Matteo Berrettini, Wimbledon finalist in 2021. The interest shown by the Austrian and the Italian underlines the appeal of the Gonet Geneva Open to the best players of the tour.
